Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on rice breeding, molecular breeding, and genetic analysis.
- Manage data collection, accurate cataloguing, and detailed reporting of project findings.
- Perform allele mining to identify valuable traits in rice landraces.
- Engage in participatory evaluation with farmers to assess consumer preferences.
- Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, and project documentation.

Required Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Plant Genetic Resources, or Life Sciences, paired with a 4 or 5-year Bachelor’s degree.
- OR: A postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences (with a 3-year Bachelor’s and 2-year Master’s) and a mandatory NET/GATE qualification plus two years of research experience.
- The maximum age limit is 35 years for men and 40 years for women.
- Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government of India/ICAR norms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior research experience in the fields of rice breeding or molecular breeding.
- Strong proficiency in standard computer applications, including data analysis software.
Salary and Benefits
The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly salary structured as follows:
- First and Second Year: ₹42,000/- per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA).
- Third Year: ₹47,000/- per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA).
HRA will be provided as per prevailing institutional and government norms.
