Key Responsibilities

• Conduct molecular biology and microbiology experiments as per the project’s objectives.
• Handle, culture, and maintain strains of the pathogenic fungus Candida tropicalis.
• Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation using relevant bioinformatic tools.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records of all experiments and findings.
• Assist the Principal Investigator with the preparation of reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth execution of research activities.
• Stay updated with the latest scientific literature relevant to the research project.

Required Qualifications

• A Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or Biochemistry with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
• Must have qualified in a National Eligibility Test (NET) or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
• The maximum age limit is 28 years as on the date of the interview.
• Strong foundational knowledge in molecular biology and microbiology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior hands-on laboratory experience in handling pathogenic fungi.
• Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, and electrophoresis.
• Familiarity with bioinformatic software and tools for sequence and data analysis.

Salary and Benefits

The selected Junior Research Fellow will receive a consolidated fellowship in line with government standards.
Fellowship Amount: ₹37,000 per month.
Additional Benefits: House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be provided as per the prevailing norms of the DST-SERB, Govt. of India.
