Job Summary

National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, invites applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) positions under the DST-SERB sponsored project: “Development of high-performance thermoelectric materials for waste heat recovery applications.” This is a full-time research opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

Positions Available:
– Junior Research Fellow (JRF): 1 opening
– Senior Research Fellow (SRF): 1 opening

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct material synthesis and characterization (XRD, SEM, TEM) for thermoelectric applications.
• Perform property measurements (thermal/electrical conductivity) and data analysis.
• Collaborate with the research team to optimize material performance for waste heat recovery.
• Document findings and contribute to research publications and project reports.
• Assist in lab management and mentorship (for SRF role).

Required Qualifications

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF):

• B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with GATE/NET qualification OR M.Tech/M.E. in relevant disciplines.
• Maximum age: 32 years (relaxation as per Govt. of India norms).

For Senior Research Fellow (SRF):

• M.Tech/M.E. with 2+ years of research experience OR B.Tech/B.E. with GATE/NET + 2 years of research experience.
• PhD holders are encouraged to apply.
• Maximum age: 35 years (relaxation as per Govt. of India norms).

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with thermoelectric materials or energy-related research.
• Proficiency in material characterization tools (e.g., XRD, SEM, DSC).
• Prior publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary and Benefits

Junior Research Fellow (JRF): ₹31,000/month + HRA (as per institute norms).
Senior Research Fellow (SRF): ₹35,000/month + HRA (as per institute norms).
